As Growing Threats to the FLX Environment Endanger the Region’s Future Advocates, Businesses, Elected Officials to Rally Urging Leaders to Defend NY’s Laws
The State has the power to protect the Finger Lakes region– amid an ongoing lawsuit at Greenidge Generation’s cryptomining facility, an application to extend the Seneca Meadows landfill, and the proposal for a large data center on Cayuga Lake – but our leaders must stand by their climate commitments

Gathering on Sun Day, a national day of action celebrating the power of clean energy, speakers – elected officials, world-renowned scientists and local business owners and faith leaders – will call out waning support from New York’s leadership and urge them to protect the Finger Lakes
WHAT: Assemblymember Anna Kelles will join business owners and environmental advocates from the entire Finger Lakes region in a rally demanding that New York leaders stand behind its climate laws and further the state’s progress in tackling the climate crisis.
The event will take place on Sun Day, a national day of action celebrating the power of clean energy, and will focus on the urgent need to address a number of pressing environmental threats that are putting the air and water of the beautiful Finger Lakes region at risk, including the ongoing harms from Greenidge Generation, a gas powered cryptomining facility, and the Seneca Meadows landfill, the largest landfill in New York that is at capacity and applying to expand its footprint by 47 acres and continue operations for 15 years.
With elected support waning on climate issues across New York State and Governor Hochul abandoning climate laws, the rally’s speakers will send an urgent message to leaders that it’s time to block corporate polluters and protect New York’s natural resources and economic vitality.
