Dan Saunders to Perform Piano Concert

Concert is in Celebration of The Arts Council for Wyoming County’s (Belated) 45th Anniversary

Dan Saunders

The Arts Council for Wyoming County (ACWC) is delighted to host Perry Native, Dan Saunders, for a piano concert. This belated 45th-anniversary fundraiser has been a long time coming!

Dan says of his return to Perry, “It is always good to come home. I love upstate New York. My association with Jackie Swaby and the Arts Council for Wyoming County is a continuing source of joy. My hope is that this concert and other events here will bring together both our own friends and family and that it will bring in new folks as well. All are welcome!”

Dan is currently an Assistant Conductor with The Metropolitan Opera in New York City. He is also a celebrated, and in-demand pianist who has performed on the world stage. His distinguished musical career includes performances in recital with many of the world’s leading singers, including Jessye Norman, Kiri TeKanawa, Kathleen Battle, Marilyn Horne, Tatiana Troyanos, Samuel Ramey, and Thomas Allen.

Dan has performed at the White House; Carnegie Hall; Lincoln Center; Washington’s Kennedy Center; the Bastille Opera in Paris; the San Francisco Opera; the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival; the Salzburg, Tanglewood, Ravinia, and Mostly Mozart Festivals; and at London’s Wigmore Hall.

Dan has frequently performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and he has been heard on Live from Lincoln Center, the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts, and more recently, Livestreams from the Met in conjunction with the New York Times. For the past eight summers, he has appeared with the Met’s Rising Young Stars of Opera in New York’s Summer Stage in Central Park. As a conductor, he served as Associate Conductor of Virginia Opera for six seasons, and has conducted orchestras in Germany, Japan, Costa Rica, and throughout the United States.

“Saunders’ playing went layers deep into expression…and the audience, which packed the place Saturday night, sensed it.”                                                The Miami Herald

“Pianist of the evening, maybe of the month, was the smooth and accomplished Dan Saunders.”                                                                                          The Los Angeles Times

“Mr. Saunders was a precise ensemble player, but never sacrificed warmth or style.”       The New York Times

The concert will be held in the ACWC’s Main Gallery located at 31 South Main Street in Perry, NY. on Monday, July 12 at 7 pm.  This concert includes artisan meats, cheeses, spreads, and breads catered by Ration Wine Bar with a ticket price of $50.

Tickets are available for purchase on our website: www.artswyco.org. For more information call the ACWC at (585) 237-3517.
