Artists Invited to Paint Their Favorite Quotes – Part of LIV CO Walls Mural Festival Celebration!

Livingston County invites artists to participate in 2022 Sidewalk Showcase

Geneseo, NY, January 14th, 2022 – As part of the Inspirations Trail and in conjunction with the LivCo Walls Mural Festival, Livingston County will host the Sidewalk Showcase during the month of July 2022. The Sidewalk Showcase, first hosted in 2020, is a self-guided art tour through Livingston County’s nine downtown districts showcasing more than 100 works of art, designed by local artists and incorporating inspirational words, in storefront windows in downtown businesses. The pieces are all created on wooden boards using different mediums that encourage viewers to feel inspired.

Artists are invited to participate in the 2022 Sidewalk Showcase by creating an art piece to be displayed in a downtown business. Artists can register to create an art piece on a 24” x 24” x 1 1/2” wood panel provided by Livingston County Economic Development. The wood panel features a standard basswood surface that resists splitting and bubbling. It is cradled with a highly stable solid pine frame that will not warp or bend and can be used with any painting or drawing medium. Both the surface and the frame are sanded on all sides for smoothness.

“The Sidewalk Showcase allows visitors and locals to explore the nine villages of Livingston County, spend time in downtown businesses they may not have visited before, and get inspired by messages of encouragement used by our artists,” says Louise Wadsworth, Downtown Coordinator of Livingston County Economic Development. “Our 2020 Sidewalk Showcase allowed artists including students at local high school to showcase their skills and share inspiring messages and we look forward to seeing the pieces that the 2022 Sidewalk Showcase artists create,” says Wadsworth.

Livingston County is continuously working to create a public art trail that highlights the downtown districts of our nine villages. The mission of the Inspirations Trail is to encourage the creation of public art throughout Livingston County and the Genesee River Valley. Public art destinations are being created nationwide and Livingston County aims to attract visitors from all over the country who are interested and engaged in public art.

Sidewalk Showcase pieces need to be completed by Sunday, May 1st, 2022. For more information on the Inspirations Trail and Sidewalk Showcase, visit inspirationstrail.com or contact Livingston County Economic Development at 585-243-7124.
