Join Dr. Cristiano Pereira as he instructs young artists in Spanish while teaching drawing, painting and other areas of art in his Spanish Immersion Art Classes.

Dr. Pereira is a Latino from Brazil who’s native language is Portuguese but he also speaks fluent Spanish and English.

Dr. Pereira is the Special Initiatives Director for Go Art!. Pereira received a PhD in Art from State University of Rio de Janeiro and a MFA in Painting from University at Buffalo.

As a Latinx visual artist based in WNY since 2013, his artworks have been shown in several group and solo shows in WNY including Burchfield Penney Art Center and Niagara Arts & Cultural Center. Prior to Go Art! Pereira has been teaching in different universities including Daemen University, Medaille University and SUNY Erie. Born in Brazil, Pereira founded the Art school Estudio Belas Artes in 2004, personally teaching Art classes, curating art shows and leading a team of three teachers for more than 20 years. Pereira misses the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, which he tries to visit at least once a year but surprisingly enjoys the cold winters of WNY, still being able to continuously find the beauty of the snowflakes every year.

For over sixty years, the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council (GO ART!) has been dedicated to developing the cultural life in Genesee and Orleans Counties by facilitating the creation, presentation, and experience of art, heritage, and traditions. We offer galleries for artists to showcase their work, various classes, workshops, and children and teen programs for residents of Genesee and Orleans Counties. We believe that art is valuable and want to promote it in the community as much as possible, as is reflected in our mission “to inspire a creative, inclusive community through the power of arts, culture, and traditions.” Funding for GO ART! is made possible in part with support from the New York State Council on the Arts with support from the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature. Additional funding for GO ART! comes from the Genesee and Orleans Counties Governments, foundations, private donors, and members.
